On the afternoon of November 9, 2023, the School of Foreign Languages convened the first argumentation meeting for the 2024 National Social Science Fund and Ministry of Education projects application (literature, linguistics, etc.) via Tencent Meeting. This meeting featured three experts in the fields of literature and linguistics, including Professor Huo Shifu from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Wang Shunyu from Xi'an International Studies University, and Professor Zhang Bisheng from Guizhou Normal University, who provided guidance online. Vice Dean of Research Su Rui and several teachers from the school participated in the meeting.
Under the moderation of Vice Dean Su Rui, eight teachers including Yang Liu and Hu Zhuqing sequentially presented their proposed topics, topic ideas, innovative points, and previous research achievements. The three professors provided individual evaluations on the feasibility of the topics and offered many constructive suggestions.
The meeting lasted for over two hours. Vice Dean Su Rui delivered concluding remarks, and expressed gratitude for the guidance provided by the professors and experts. She highlighted the school's commendable achievement of securing four approvals in national-level projects in 2023, and made a historic breakthrough in the school's project approval rate at the national level. She encouraged teachers to heed the advice from the experts, strive for exploration, diligently revise their topics, and prepare thoroughly for the anticipated second justification meeting scheduled for late November or early December.
